Ok, no time for blabbering away with this one... Waaaay too much to list in terms of upgrades and bug fixes. Sit down, buckle up, and hold on... It's definitely a mouthful.
Bugs fixed in v2.5.5
Added what should be the FINAL jQuery compatibility fix
This fix requires you to check to see if any of the jQuery dependent options are working for you, and if not, simply check a box that will then load jQuery the way we were previously. I found that the biggest issue with the plugin vs. theme was that themes normally load their own version of jQuery whereas the plugin was loading whatever version was included with the WordPress release you were using.
Now the plugin doesn't load ANY jQuery in your site UNLESS you check the box for the jQuery compatibility fix. This way, it will simply work off whichever version of jQuery your theme has loaded. Then for those of you who are living in 1998, and your themes don't load jQuery, you can tick the box and we'll load our version to compensate.
Fixed a couple small dashboard bugs (most jQuery related)
Fixed validity problem with previous release
Fixed issue with the Twitter link breaking if your title included quotes
Features added in v2.5.5
SexyBookmarks now only loads it's CSS/JS if the menu is being displayed on a particular page/post
Short URLs are now only generated once a post is published
Added Italian translation
Added Sphinn
Added Fleck
Added Xerpi
Added Netvibes
Added Netvouz
Added NUjij
Added GlobalGrind
Added Wikio
Added Blogosphere News
Added Posterous
Added Techmeme
You can now tip TechMeme by using the plugin to send them a tip via Twitter
Added eKudos
Added Ping.fm
Added ToMuse
Reinstated email link with simple mailto
You asked for it, so you got it... Now, I don't want to hear you people complaining when the message winds up getting garbled because that's the reason I had disabled it until further notice to begin with...
Updated readme with new info
Updated default translation files
Added new screenshots
Holy smokes that's a lot of stuff! I hope you were able to read through it all without falling asleep... Now, I'm taking a sabbatical... Adios!

Just posted a bug report for it.
Anyone else having this issue with IE 8 ?
10/5/09
I believe Norman replied to your bug report email with some options for you to try…
10/6/09
I have the same problem fot the post. That work fine for the pages. Do you know why ?
10/12/09
Indeed. Sent my comments back to Normal with my test cases. Just saw you released 2.5.5.1 so I’ll give that a shot to see if it fixes the problem.
Thanks Josh
10/9/09
Have this same problem with this plug-in and 2.8.4 WP. What is the fix or do I need to go to previous version. It doesn’t work in IE 8, Chrome, or Safari
10/5/09
Nice work Josh, thanks for such a great plugin.
10/5/09
No problem!
10/7/09
Have you had any time to look into the static page support? Not expecting fast results, but just wondering if you’ve investigated the feasibility.
10/5/09
The next time you’re editing sexy-bookmarks.php please consider adding Sexy URL to the list of URL Shorteners. sl.ly. Thank you!
10/6/09
Does this support DZone links? Sorry if that’s posted anywhere- I searched through changelogs and couldn’t find any reference to DZone, also couldn’t find a single definitive list (might be a good thing to have, or more prominently link to :D )
Overall, this plugin is exactly what I’ve been looking for, for a long time. Great work!
10/7/09
DZone isn’t currently supported, but is already on the list to be added soon.
12/3/09
I couldn’t wait for DZone to be added, so I’ve added it myself. Get the sprite at
http://www.adaniels.nl/wp-content/plugins/sexybookmarks/images/sexy-sprite.png
Edit sexybookmarks/bookmarks-data.php, adding:
’sexy-dzone’=>array(
‘check’=>__(‘Check this box to include ‘, ’sexybookmarks’).__(‘DZone’, ’sexybookmarks’).__(‘ in your bookmarking menu’, ’sexybookmarks’),
’share’=>__(‘Share this on ‘, ’sexybookmarks’).__(‘DZone’, ’sexybookmarks’),
‘baseUrl’=>’http://www.dzone.com/links/add.html?url=PERMALINK&title=TITLE’,
),
Edit sexybookmarks/css/admin-style.css
and sexybookmarks/css/style.css, copy from ’sexy-tomuse’ and use background-position:-3780px
10/7/09
This is the most top-notch plugin for social bookmarking I’ve ever seen – I will definitely be recommending it to everyone I know who uses WP. Thanks for making it!

Thanks!

Hi Josh!
Thanks a lot for this great plugin.
I’m just finishing the spanish translation. Please mail be to let me know where to send the translated files.

Is there an easy way to have the bookmark images appear in the “up” position by default rather than requiring a roll-over?
Just trying to reduce the amount of thinking users have to do and some images like the reddit one aren’t as easy to pick out from the crowd because much of the image is hidden.
I know, I know you can’t please everyone especially with a free plug-in, but I thought I’d ask.
Thanks for all the hard work!
10/8/09
@Chris:
Yes we’ll be releasing it within a month or two…
10/8/09
Was this in response to my question about the static page function?
10/8/09
Yes it was… I’ve edited it so as to make it less confusing.
The comment threading isn’t broken, but it’s set to only allow 3 levels deep. Otherwise the comment box gets far too narrow and extremely hard to read.
10/8/09
Ah, that makes sense. Thanks again.
10/12/09
Gonna post here cause contact form is bugged.
Some really weird problem here. I’m using a little javascript here http://www.sonarblast.com/heavy-metal/avantasia-the-metal-opera-pt-ii-2002.html which uses built-in jquery in WP 2.8.4 to switch between article, comments and share. As you have alreay guessed I’m using a manual mode for the plugin to appear there. And the weird thing is that it doesn’t utilize the preloaded jquery for unknown reason. And the even funnier part is that if I check the plugin to use below or above content mode it uses jquery alright and all the expand animations work and they work EVEN WITH THIS MANUAL CODE in Share which is still there. So I turned off “Animate-expand multi-lined bookmarks?” for the time being. Any clue what’s going on?
10/12/09
Also it seems only 2 first rows of icons are clickable in Chrome when all 5 rows are shown.
10/12/09
Upgraded to 2.5.5.1 and am now getting: An Unexpected HTTP Error occurred during the API request.
Any advice?
10/13/09
I’m having that same issue with WP itself… Even after deactivating all plugins. I honestly don’t believe it’s a sexybookmarks error.
10/21/09
i deleted the sexybookmarks folder and the HTTP error went away. Can the author please confirm what the problem is?
10/22/09
Please see here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/296622
10/21/09
Actually, I am also having the same problem.
When I activated the plug in, every page in the WP Admin is showing the same message. I delete the sexy-bookmarks folder in the Wordpress Plugin directory and everything works again.
Here’s also another person who’s having the same problem:

Would love to see is.gd support long term. Thanks guys for a great plugin! Top Notch!
10/14/09
Will look into adding it soon.
10/19/09
Thnx Josh
10/14/09
Awesome plugin buddy……
Would like to know if you have developed anything else coz it too would be too good to implement on my blog…..
10/14/09
I do have plans for a couple more plugins, but not in the immediate future.
10/14/09
Soo…noone has any possible solution for 2 problems I mentioned above? =(
10/14/09
With a bug report that extensive, please make use of the bug report form located in the uppermost menu on the page… (contact-forms/bug-form)
Thanks
10/14/09
I use (and really love) YOURLS ( http://yourls.org ) for my url-shortening, but there’s no way to use it with SexyBookmarks, with Twitter. YOURLS has an API key, so I’m pretty sure it could work. Is there anyway it could be implement into a future release?
10/15/09
Will look into adding it in a future release.
10/17/09
Great plugin. I think it looks really elegant in my blog. I have said Yes to the Show in RSS feed and was wondering if there was a way that I could shrink the font size of the links when they are published in a RSS post. It would also be great if I could have them go across the page the same way Feedburner treats the links. Currently it shows up in my RSS feed as a rather large long list with one link per line.
Kind regards,
Richard
10/17/09
Yes, unfortunately there’s not a whole lot that can be done at the moment due to the fact that it’s nearly impossible to get CSS into an RSS feed. I’m looking into solutions to this, but haven’t found a viable one yet. When I do, I will certainly let you know.
10/21/09
i doubt this: An Unexpected HTTP Error occurred during the API request.
i installed the plugin to my 3 blogs one by one and all blogs had the problem… any idea?
10/22/09
question about twitter options, the API key.. where shall i get it?
10/22/09
The API key is for certain URL shortening services… If you chose a service that requires an API key, then you’ll need to sign up for membership with that service, at which time they will assign you a unique API key.
10/23/09
hi,
i was wondering if you could add a mail feature in this?
thanks.
10/23/09
There is an email feature built into the plugin already.
10/23/09
Thanks for your great works.
It’s truely sexy, and I like it!
10/26/09
Hi Josh
First, thanks for the awesome plugin.
But why it keeps showing a bunch of text like “share this, tweet this, etc” on posts?
Cheers,
Carla
10/26/09
This normally means that something is preventing the stylesheet from being loaded… Can I have a link to the site where it’s not working?
10/27/09
Hi josh,
It looks great! … but (and here comes) in my case only in chrome on every post.
In firefox or safari, some posts work, some break off displaying the content at the top.
Take a look at these url’s please..
working: http://www.pitchstorm.tv/2009/10/11/nokia-to-invest-in-twibble/
not-working:http://www.pitchstorm.tv/2009/10/07/lessons-to-learn-fromfor-dutch-entrepreneurs-part-i/
All works fine if i deactivate sexybookmarks. Im running out of ideas here. Do you have any?
Thanks a lot (also for the great plugin ;-) )
10/27/09
Hmm, very odd indeed… Since I’ve never had this particular thing reported to me before, I’m going to go out on a limb and assume this is either a plugin conflict or a theme conflict/error.
Here’s how you can check to see if it’s a plugin conflict:
Disable ALL plugins other than SexyBookmarks
Load your site and see if the problem still exists
If not, then it’s not SexyBookmarks, it’s a plugin conflict
Re-enable all plugins one by one until the problem appears again
Email me with the contact form on this site to tell me what plugin it’s conflicting with
10/30/09
Hi!
Cool plugin!
But is there any how to customize the network?
Here in brazil we use Orkut, Rec6 and DiHitt!
One in 100 people uses orkut more than facebook here.
what should I do?
thanks a lot!
11/3/09
Hey Josh,
Still waiting your answer.
Thanks a lot.
regards
11/4/09
I will work on adding them to a future release.
11/4/09
It will be great!
Thank’s so much!
=]
10/31/09
Nice plugin, but I keep having one problem. Every time I check which networks I want displayed and hit “Save Changes” it reverts back to all of them.
Any ideas?
11/1/09
This sounds like the Twittley bug… See here: http://sexybookmarks.net/documentation/faq#18
11/2/09
I had the same problem and could not save the settings, being reverted back all the time. Also I tried to file a bug report, but your bug report doesn’t work for posting. Actually I pressed the ‘broken’ in the compability report at wordpress.org in the plugin area for the 2.8.5, and 2.5.5.1 but it looks like I can change it? yep, I gave a 5 star review while I was at it :)
Why not throw in some default values? I did read the error message and corrected some values, but then it requested for menu location (and reverted the settings) so I couldn’t wrap my head around that (although) simple error…
great plugin by the way.
11/3/09
Hmm, the bug report form seems to be working for everyone else…
You need to make sure that you fill in all fields when choosing the options for the plugin, otherwise it won’t have enough data to generate the menu for your site. So make sure that you choose whether you want it in the index page, single posts, pages, etc… Also make sure you tell the menu whether to display above/below the content. You’ll also need to ensure that you fill in any advanced options that correspond to any services you choose such as Twittley, Yahoo Buzz, or Twitter.
11/2/09
Hey,
first, nice work dude. :)
could you please add save as bookmark and a german mister-wong button?
thanks in advance
greets
Christian
11/3/09
I am working on adding misterwong.de to the plugin already.
11/2/09
Hi,
Very nice plugin. I was wondering if this plugin can also be used on normal HTML pages, not just on WP blogs…
11/3/09
This option will be coming soon…
11/3/09
Hi Josh,
This is a really cool plugin. And I have a question: Is user allowed to change the bookmark icons? Let say I want to replace the existing Facebook icon to the one I customized. Is it doable?
Thanks.
11/3/09
Yes, you can edit the image by either photoshopping the one that’s included with the plugin, or by creating your own and replacing it entirely. In the next version, the plugin will allow you to choose to use “custom mods” which will in turn create a new folder on your server that will not be affected when you upgrade the plugin, thus allowing you to save any modifications to that folder so that they will not be lost when you update the plugin.
12/14/09
where do I find the images so that I could replace them with my modified icons?
12/14/09
Well, if you’re using the most recent version of the plugin, then it would work like this:
You select the “Use custom mods” option
The plugin creates the following folders on your server:
http://yourserver.com/wp-content/sexy-mods
http://yourserver.com/wp-content/sexy-mods/css
http://yourserver.com/wp-content/sexy-mods/js
http://yourserver.com/wp-content/sexy-mods/images
You modify the files located within those folders
Your modifications are saved even upon upgrading the plugin
11/4/09
Hi, This is a really useful plugin to me. However I just encounter a problem when I use this plugin with another called “WP-No-Format”. When both plugins are activated, sexybookmarks shows all icons including those I have not selected. Is there possible to do a bit of setting to make it compatible with “WP-No-Format”. Thanks.
11/4/09
I will look into it.
11/5/09
Please consider adding ‘Menéame’. Thank you!
11/5/09
It’s already been added in the development version which should be released as v2.6.0 soon…
11/12/09
There are a few people they use socbo.com for bookmarking. Could you add a button?
Thx
Florian
11/15/09
Is there a fix for the “An Unexpected HTTP Error occurred during the API request” error? I’ve been having this error since the latest WordPress upgrade.
Thanks!
11/15/09
This is a WordPress problem, not a SexyBookmarks problem. It’s actually an issue with WordPress’s server response times. They are probably being overburdened and heavily taxed…
12/9/09
Well Josh, I found a solution that worked for me thanks to the link you gave me.
Changing timeout from 5 to 30 worked for most people, including me.
Here’s how you can get around the problem:-
1. Go to your WordPress installation folder using cPanel File Manager or your preferred FTP Client such as FileZilla
2. Find the following directory: /wp-admin/includes/
3. Using cPanel File Manger, edit the file named file.php. If you are using an FTP client, download and open the file.
4. Search for the line that looks like this
$response = wp_remote_get($url, array(’timeout’ => 5));
5. Change the default value of 5 to 30
$response = wp_remote_get($url, array(’timeout’ => 30));
Save the file and try again after that. It should fix the timeout issue.
12/10/09
Hey Josh, glad you were able to find a solution that works for you… However, it probably won’t be necessary anymore as I’ve removed any and all API requests (including version comparison) from the latest version of the plugin… So now if anyone gets the “Unexpected http error” it won’t be due to SexyBookmarks.
02/1/10
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘.’ in /home7/entreoso/public_html/wp-content/plugins/sexybookmarks/sexy-bookmarks.php on line 209
02/1/10
I’m sorry about that… Looks like I missed something in my rush to get the version released… I’ve updated the SVN, so please delete the copy you’re using now and redownload to fix the issue.
Again, sorry!
