Kinda Sorta?

Yep, that's a real word (or words), at least in my dictionary it is! Anyway, the next version of the plugin (v3.1) includes Google Reader, which many of you probably already know is hooked to Google Buzz. So, by simply submitting articles to Google Reader, you'll also been submitting them directly to Google Buzz as well!

So once the next version is released (which is long overdue by the way) you'll be able to kill two birds with one stone by submitting to Google Reader AND Google Buzz with just one click. Hope that's satisfactory to you!

Completely Unrelated Note:

Just in case any of you were wondering... I've been out of state for a couple of weeks now. Came back a few days ago only to realize my computer had been fried by lightning! So I had to order a bunch of new parts from Newegg, and after 2 bad sticks of RAM and a bogus copy of Windows 7... I've finally got everything up and running! w00t!

It's been a little while since I updated this category, but for good reason... There hasn't been a long enough break between versions where I'm not getting tons of emails asking for new features! It seems that you guys are really adamant about getting what you want and getting it NOW! haha

Fret not though, ye anxious citizens of Sexyville... Just because I haven't updated the list yet doesn't mean that I haven't been listening. So, to alleviate some of your anxiety, I've compiled a list of things to come soon. This list contains everything that's been asked for thusfar, and is broken down into several parts.

Part 1: Addtional Sites

This part contains a list of all sites which have been requested for inclusion in the plugin. Some have been added already in the development version, and some probably won't make it into the next release. However, don't worry your pretty little heads too much... If the site you're waiting for doesn't make it in the next release, it will certainly carry over to the next feature requests post and remain on my "To Do" list until it's finished.

Part 2: Additional Features

1. Version for "static sites" which has most (if not all) features the WordPress version has

   This is actually how the plugin started, but with the rapid pace of development regarding the plugin, it just hasn't been maintained and doesn't offer any of the cool features the plugin does. So, I'm working on creating a self-installing script which can be used on static sites. One that will offer nearly everything the WordPress version has.

2. Add the ability to make custom modifications that won't be lost upon upgrade

   This one has been long awaited by many of you, and has finally been made a reality. It's been added to the development version already, and will be released in the next version.

3. Add integrated Awe.sm functionality and support

   Still working on this one... It's proving to be an utter pain.

4. Add SexyURL to the list of available URL Shorteners

   This one has already been added to the development version.

5. Add Migre.me to the list of available URL shortening services

6. Ability to choose from different plugin skins/themes to better match individual WP themes

   This one is still in the works... Rest assured that it is coming at some point, just probably not in the next release.

So I'm very happy with the rate at which the plugin is growing and evolving, aren't you? I'd say you are, otherwise there wouldn't be a whopping 11,000+ of you who have downloaded and installed the plugin thusfar!

Part of keeping that number alive and growing is by support for problems as well as SHINY NEW FEATURES! I mean c'mon, even adults like shiny new toys to play with every now and then, right? Good... So here's a list of what's on the "to do list" for upcoming version releases:

1. Add Twittley to the list of available sites

   Already available in the development version

2. Add integrated Awe.sm functionality and support

3. Add Migre.me to the list of available URL shortening services

4. Ability to choose from different plugin skins/themes to better match individual WP themes

   This is one of the big ones... Many people love the fact that the plugin offers more than just a few 16x16px icons for people to click on, but they don't like the fact that the plugin doesn't work so well with some themes (especially dark backgrounds). So, we're working on incorporating different "themes" to choose from which will use different sets of icons and possibly even different types of "hover" animation functionality.

5. Localization of the plugin

   This is another big one. Many people have been asking since v1.0 about when the plugin would be offering translations... I had originally planned to offer a text file that could be translated that I would then include in the plugin, but quickly realized that this would be more of a hassle than anything.

   
   

   I am currently working on implementing the standard I18n method into the plugin. Once it's ready, any of you who offered to translate (or already did translate) the text file I had offered a while ago can feel free to offer up your translations to get the ball rolling.

6. Only load Javascript and CSS on the plugin admin page rather than entire dashboard

   Seeing as how this is/was my first attempt at WordPress plugins, I'm not ashamed to say that I had no clue I was doing anything wrong in regards to loading the scripts and styles into the entire dashboard... That is, until I read a post from the great Ozh that explained how and why it was bad to do this...

   
   

   Thanks to Artem Russakovskii of BeerPlanet, the plugin will no longer load styles and scripts in the entire dashboard... Instead, they will be restricted to only loading on the page they were intended for. Thanks Artem!

That's about the only word I can think of to accurately describe how I feel about the rate at which this plugin is really taking off! Many thanks to everyone who's using it, and thanks to everyone who keeps me informed of bugs I may have missed. I also want to thank all of you who have voiced your ideas for making the plugin better. In fact, I've been collecting your feature requests and I've got a list put together of features that I am going to work on integrating into v2. (see below)

I'm sure that there will inevitably be more feature requests as time goes on. In fact, I certainly HOPE there is as that's how the plugin will evolve and get better over time.
